Fifteen heritage grants will be awarded to local property-owners in the North Shore after months of consideration in recent council meetings.
The North Shore council will award up to a total of nearly $35,000 in grants. This will be distributed by the Council for conservation projects to help preserve Ku-ring-gai’s heritage areas. This comes after local council members sought to increase conservation in the key local heritage areas around the main rainforests in the Ku-ring-gai region.
The Council’s heritage home grants will fund a range of projects every year across Ku-ring-gai for properties that are listed as local heritage items or located within heritage conservation areas.
Ku-rin-gai’s recent application grants have soared over the years application with applications for this year’s heritage grants program being highly competitive, with a total of 28 applications received. The applications were reviewed by the Council’s Heritage Reference Committee and 15 projects will be funded as a result.
Ku-rin-gai Mayor Jennifer Anderson said that the grants show the council’s continued support for heritage grant programs.
“Our intention is to spread grant funding equitably to as many projects in as many heritage properties as possible,” the Mayor said.
Property-owners in Lindfield, Killara, Warrawee, Roseville, Gordon, Pymble and Wahroonga were successful in obtaining grants. The grant recipients will be required to carry out project work before 30 June 2020 to satisfy the terms and conditions for funding.
Among the award recipients this year were tuck-pointing of original brickwork in the Roseville site, repairs to original bay windows at Killara along with the restoration of original leadlights at Pymble.
